This book is about the stylistic devices and their interpretation in the work "The Ceantaur" by John Updike. It interpretes the functions of the stylistic devices. Aim of the work is to study the significance of stylistic features in the novel “The Centaur” The tasks of the dissertation are: - to identify and analyze the importance of stylistic features in fiction;- to explore the functions of various stylistic devices on the basis of John Updike`s work , “The Centaur”, in American Literature; - to analyze these devices infuence on the overall content of the work; - to make changes in the readers' approach to stylistic devices while reading literary works; -to draw relevant conclusions from the scientific problems studied and analyzed.
