Library services and it's contemporary role in shaping our society

The work sees collection building as a critical activity for librarians and academic staffing the provision of quality resources that aid teaching and research in tertiary institutions as the highest academic institution in a given country which produces scientific and skilled manpower to equip students for greater responsibilities. The second phase of the work ventures into what reading culture portrays and the effects of it's declining attributes among our youths. It is believed that once the challenge of poor reading culture among primary and secondary school students sis tackled by implication the problem of poor reading culture in Nigeria would be resolved considerably in the long run. The third article that constitutes this work conceptualizes few of the multifaceted effects of information media technology particularly in the area of education, security and the plight of present younger generation, it states that, excessive use of mobile phones and computers divert the attention of younger generation from the use of print materials which improves Grammer and position them (younger generation) for greater educational advancement.
